I'll start by saying this- B.O.A.T =Bring On Another Thousand... Whether your improving your boat or keeping it up it costs a lot. Up to 4k a year in gas expenses don't help so finding a boat with no problems would be best,correct?..Wake Up! Your dreaming! Finding a boat with NO problems isn't going to happen. I've been in them all, old and new, and each boat manufacturer has their own quirky problems. Malibu had vinyl problems, gauge problems, and seats breaking. Supra had a few problems with gauges, the brain box the controls the gauges and signals to engine, and some ignition quirks. Correct craft had problems with towers, board racks, ballast and seat hinges. Mastercraft had a lot of ballast problems, starters failing and some transmission problems on a few models.Tige' well they had a ton of problems, wake sucked, seats tearing badly, loose towers that fell off or fell apart, and the fit and finish had suffered for a while. These are just a few examples from what i witnessed and was told by owners. there are no manufacturers that are immune to problems but you yourself can help limit other problems. If you want one to last longer keep it stored inside, make monthly repairs or upkeep like oil changes,seat/vinyl conditioning and waxing etc.... If you do this they will stay in great shape and hold resale value but if you don't your going to lose your A$$ in resale value and upkeep will double. Now which boats should be cheaper id say Big companies like CC/Nauty have owned there facilities for 75 years and just relocated from what I've been told they have no overhead in that department and own the process's to there towers, board racks and other stuff which are mostly in house manufactured, It doesn't make sense they would be the most expensive boat out there but they do build a great boat that is the best in all watersports category so they can get away with it. They could lower their prices but why people are paying it, if you owned the business would you? Sucks for us but the truth.. It also works in the opposite for smaller companies like MB sports, gekko etc. They have tons of new loans, leased plant space, and have to try harder and pay more for advertising being unproven and then turn around and sell a third of the boats as the big ones. So to stay in business they have to keep prices competitive..So in the end all boats are expensive and have a lot of upkeep so you have to choose the one you like for yourselves that fits your budget and needs. I personally Love the Nautiques and if i can afford a Super Air TE i would have one. A close second is the Malibu VLX because of what you get for your money is the best as Joe/Dean found out then a tie for second which are hard choices between the three is The Xstar and Supra Launches(All). The 03 Xstar isnt even out yet but the cost is projected at 63k so that isnt going to go over well and its ugly front wont help .. Now go to the boat show and buy a new boat, you know we bitch about the prices but keep paying these ridiculous prices.. WE all are the problem, we keep buying them so why should they lower their prices???? Think about it .............
